It's a popular holiday spot for the British attempting to escape the winter, but Spain has plenty of history in addition to its beaches. Andalusia, in the south, has plenty of Moorish history, delicious food and its own unique culture. Catalunya, with the ever popular Barcelona, is another popular destination for its mazelike Barrio Gottic, fantastic Gaudi architecture and lively party atmosphere.
Getting there and away is easy, with local budget operator Vueling and numerous other budget airlines servicing multiple destinations within the country.
Budget wise, 70 Euro a day each for two people (140 Euro a day total) was very comfortable and allowed for internal train and air travel as well as eating well and avoiding hostels. Taking buses, using dormitories and self catering would reduce this significantly.
