A little slice of civilisation wedged in between arid mountains and the sea in the north of Chile. It takes off in the summer, but is reasonably quiet off season when the Humboldt Current ensures grey skies and cool weather.
Sushi is inexplicably popular (not because it's not good, it is, just because... well, why would it be, here?), Peruvian food is less surprisingly popular as well. Great food is only a bit more expensive than awesome food, so track the good stuff down and enjoy it.
