Augusta is barely larger than the town I grew up near, but is scenically sited near the point where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, Cape Leuwin. Wale watching is a popular tourist activity, and there are various impressive caves nearby (we visited the Jewel cave, which we can recommend as very cool and worth the $19 entrance fee).
The Baywatch Manor Resort is good value; $55 for a double room with TV, a beautiful kitchen with large dining room and an awesome log burner heating the place up. Great views from the balcony as well.
Make sure you drive down to see the lighthouse down on the cape as well. Watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean is a great way to finish off the day.
